Established as a huge natural construction of ice, the Grey Glacier is known for its impressive icebergs sailing on Lake of the same name.
It is also part of the Patagonian Ice Field South, one of the largest expanses of continental ice in the world. Includes a system of 49 glaciers, among whom is the Upsala glacier, Viedma and Perito Moreno in Argentina, Geike and Grey.
In its center there is a nunatak –the piece of land that divides the glacier into two. That allows for the full contemplation of this creation of nature for visitors who can walk and get close to the glacier.
Sailing towards Grey Lake, you can get to the front wall of this awesome natural creation. It ends in the Great Southern Ice Field, where the icebergs seem to be sculpted by the wind and have the most diverse and abstract forms.
Its rainy and cold climate generates random whether with the clouds, fog and sunset each day, making a spectacle of colors. Tourists can see also the collapse of large ice masses that happens with some regularity.
